On June 9th, the Perkiomen Valley School Board, which includes 3 members of #UnitePV (Sarah Evans-Brockett, Reena Kolar, and Matthew Dorr), approved the 2019-2020 budget in the amount of $112,537,409. This represents a 1.47% tax increase, which is the lowest tax increase since the 15/16 budget when busing was cut to students in Perkiomen Greene and technology was outsourced to VarTek. The School Board managed to keep the tax increase low while also beginning a long overdue complete renovation to South Elementary, adding an Inclusion Facilitator to support the inclusion of students with disabilities in the general education classroom (as advocated for by Kim Mares), adding a Grounds Supervisor to help get our athletic fields in playable condition, and adding a Safety Supervisor to oversee all safety operations of the district. The School Board also approved Phases 2 & 3 of the 1:1 initiative so that all students grades 6-12 will have a chromebook next year. We are proud of the work the School Board has done and are excited to keep moving the district forward while keeping the financial impact on our community to a minimum.
